When Ford launched the Maverick in 2021, it quickly won over Americans with its surprising appeal as the truck they didn’t realize they needed. Now, Ford is enhancing its smallest truck to match the capability, spaciousness, and versatility that have made the Maverick a standout hit of the decade. True to form, the Maverick continues to offer the lowest starting price of any pickup truck in America.
For 2025, Maverick Hybrid drivers will benefit from a new all-wheel drive option, making it easier to tackle challenging terrain and inclement weather. This upgrade includes an optional package that doubles the towing capacity. The Maverick also introduces wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ on a larger 13.2-inch touchscreen, eliminating the need for smartphone cords. Additionally, new towing technologies set to debut in early 2025 will enhance towing capabilities, regardless of the driver’s experience level.
These improvements reflect the desires of Maverick owners, who are some of the most loyal in the midsize truck segment. They continue to choose the Maverick for its versatility, Built Ford Tough capability, and exceptional value.
The Maverick’s appeal is drawing customers not only from other truck brands but also from different vehicle segments, such as small cars and SUVs. In fact, 60 percent of Maverick buyers are trading in vehicles from other brands.
New-to-Ford and new-to-truck customers are impressed by features like the FLEXBED storage solution and the Ford Integrated Tether System, which supports custom 3D-printed accessories such as charging cord wraps, console dividers, and cupholders.
The Maverick Hybrid offers impressive fuel efficiency, with a targeted EPA-estimated 42 miles per gallon in the city and a range of 500 miles with the standard front-wheel drive model. The all-wheel drive hybrid model is projected to achieve 40 miles per gallon in the city.
Enhanced Capability and Versatility
The standout update for 2025 is the introduction of an all-wheel drive hybrid model, available on XL, XLT, and Lariat trims. This model provides improved traction on various surfaces and in different weather conditions. It also includes the 4K Tow Package, allowing for the towing of small campers, personal watercraft, and utility trailers.
The Maverick offers a maximum payload capacity of 1,500 pounds, and its FLEXBED system helps organize cargo efficiently. Features include molded pockets for securing 2x4s, two-tier loading dividers, and a bed that can accommodate up to 18 full sheets of 4×8-foot plywood. The multi-position tailgate adds versatility, allowing for flat or middle positions to carry long items or securely transport a mountain bike, with an optional bed extender for added security.
The 110V/400W outlet in the bed and cab makes it easy to power tools and devices. DIY enthusiasts can add their own features, like 12V outlets or lighting, thanks to pre-wired 12V connections.
New Technology for Convenience and Safety
The Maverick now features SYNC 4 on the largest standard touchscreen in its class—a 13.2-inch display that replaces the previous 8-inch screen. This system includes wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, enhanced voice recognition, and connected navigation. A new built-in 5G modem ensures the latest wireless tech and enables software updates for the vehicle’s systems.
A 360-Degree Camera, new for 2025 and developed initially for the F-Series, assists with maneuvering in tight urban spaces. This feature provides a comprehensive view around the vehicle, including cross-traffic alerts.
Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, also new for 2025, simplifies hitching by using the rear camera and corner radars to align the hitch with the trailer coupler while controlling the truck’s speed, steering, and braking. Once hitched, Pro Trailer Backup Assist makes reversing with a trailer easier by allowing drivers to turn a knob to guide the trailer into position.
These technologies are particularly valuable as nearly half of Maverick owners tow, including those transitioning from small cars and SUVs. Both Pro Trailer Hitch Assist and Pro Trailer Backup Assist are now standard on the Lariat and Tremor trims.
Ford Co-Pilot360 technology is standard across all models for 2025, featuring Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane-Keeping Aid, a Rear View Camera, and Auto LED High-Beam Headlamps. Lariat and Tremor trims also include Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go, Lane Centering, and Speed Sign Recognition, enhancing driving ease and comfort.
Fresh New Look Inside and Out
The Maverick’s exterior gets a fresh update with redesigned dark appearance LED headlamps, front bumper, and grille. Higher trims now feature LED projector headlamps with signature accent lighting for a premium look. New 19-inch wheels on the Lariat trim add a touch of sophistication.
Inside, new trim colors and materials are available, such as the Aspen Gray/Navy Pier theme on the XLT with Grabber Blue accents, and the Smoke Truffle theme with bronze accents on the Lariat. A new Black Package adds a distinctive look with a unique grille, black roof, black Ford badges, and gloss black 19-inch wheels.
The starting MSRP for the 2025 Maverick is $26,295, plus $1,595 for destination and delivery, for the standard hybrid front-wheel drive model. Orders for the new Maverick and Maverick Hybrid are open, with deliveries expected to start in late 2024.
