Volkswagen unveiled the all-new Tiguan in a world premiere, marking the introduction of its highly anticipated third generation. The Tiguan currently stands as one of Volkswagen’s globally renowned models, having garnered the loyalty of over 7.6 million customers since its debut in 2007. Enthusiasts can expect the arrival of this new model in dealerships as early as the first quarter of 2024.

Kai Grünitz, the Brand Board Member responsible for Technical Development, shared insights into the latest advancements brought about by the Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB evo), the technological foundation underpinning the third-generation Tiguan. Leveraging the vast economies of scale afforded by MQB evo, Volkswagen is once again democratizing cutting-edge innovations, including the DCC Pro and new hybrid drivetrains offering an electric range of approximately 100 kilometers, making them accessible to a wide spectrum of drivers.

The MQB evo-based technological enhancements comprehensively elevate the Volkswagen Tiguan across various facets. The introduction of new hybrid powertrains, capable of an impressive all-electric range, enhances the SUV’s efficiency. Furthermore, all eHybrid versions offer faster AC charging, with the added bonus of standard fast DC charging for the first time. The Tiguan’s interior is revamped with a sleek Digital Cockpit, rooted in the fourth-generation modular infotainment matrix (MIB4), delivering top-tier information, digital services, and apps in a user-friendly manner. The user interface is designed for intuitive navigation, complemented by novel features like a pneumatic massage function for front seats and the debut of IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights, borrowed from the premium Touareg model. The adaptive chassis control DCC Pro optimizes both comfort and dynamics, and the latest Park Assist generation streamlines parking maneuvers.

The compact SUV boasts a completely redesigned exterior, featuring a striking front characterized by flat LED headlights and a glass-covered horizontal strip. Air curtains at the bumper’s outer sides optimize airflow, underscoring the improvement in the drag coefficient from 0.33 to 0.28. The SUV’s silhouette showcases muscular wheel arches, accommodating wheels of up to 20 inches, while a horizontal LED strip adds flair to the Tiguan’s distinctive rear.

Inside the VW Tiguan, a fresh concept and design take center stage, defined by high-quality materials and craftsmanship. The intuitive cockpit incorporates the new Digital Cockpit, a generous infotainment screen with an innovative menu structure, a head-up display, and a multifunction driving experience switch featuring an integrated OLED display. The IDA voice assistant enables natural language control for various vehicle and infotainment functions.

The MQB evo platform enables a diverse range of powertrains for the Volkswagen Tiguan, including turbo diesel engines (TDI), turbo gasoline engines (TSI), mild hybrid turbo gasoline engines (eTSI), and plug-in hybrid systems (eHybrid) exclusively paired with automatic transmissions (DSG) in the future. Gear selection, inspired by Volkswagen’s ID. models and the new Passat, is simplified via a steering column switch. Paddle shifters are standard across all Tiguan models.

The MQB evo foundation also introduces a new generation of running gear, with the adaptive chassis control DCC receiving a makeover, including the optional DCC Pro with two-valve shock absorbers. A standard Vehicle Dynamics Manager enhances stability, agility, and precision during dynamic cornering.

The Tiguan further elevates passenger comfort with ergoActive Plus seats featuring pneumatic lumbar adjustment and a 10-chamber pressure massage function. These seats offer a programming function for automatic seat heating or ventilation based on outside temperatures.

The Tiguan introduces the IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights, offering high-resolution illumination with 38,400 multipixel LEDs, enhancing comfort and safety.

Standard convenience and assist systems include Side Assist, Front Assist, Lane Assist, Rear View, and Dynamic Road Sign Display. Optional systems include Park Assist Pro with remote parking capability and Trailer Assist.

Despite a slight increase in length, the Tiguan retains its height, width, and wheelbase dimensions from its predecessor. The luggage compartment capacity has expanded by 37 liters to 652 liters, a testament to efficient space utilization.
